Exodus 28 - The Priestly Garments

LINK: Exodus 28

BACKGROUND

God loves beauty for His glory. The priestly garments for Aaron and his sons were no exception!

A picture speaks a thousand words. So, fifteen pictures must speak 15,000 words! So, instead of writing any background about the garments, you can see replicas here:

Here is a diagram with an explanation of each component:

The Scarlet Thread of Redemption

As high priest, Aaron was in charge of the priests and the Levites. The priests were the people in charge of the day to day running of the tabernacle. This included performing the daily sacrifices and representing the people before a holy God. Thus, they were to live consecrated lives. Jesus is our great high priest (Hebrews 8). He sacrificed Himself on the cross for our sins once and for all so that daily sacrifices are no longer required.

REFLECTION/APPLICATION

Most of us do not create enough space in our busy and fast-paced lives to simply enter into the Holy of Holies and bask in the presence of God. I carved some time out this week in order to take a "journey" through the tabernacle as suggested by Jim Downing (see yesterday's post). It was a blessed time. I plan on having more time today!

Won't you join me in creating space today to enter into God's presence? You do not have to be confined by Downing's suggestions.

PRAYER

Lord, in Your presence there is fullness of joy and pleasures forever (Psalm 16:11). Draw us into Your presence today. Thank You for the privilege of a relationship with You through our Great High Priest, Jesus. It is in His name that we pray. Amen.

Great details link! The visuals help me a lot (which is probably why I keep using them). :)

The presence of God. Creating space for that. I am co-lead a Centering Prayer time with a group of 5-10 people twice a week now where we do just that. Today is my day to lead. I would love to have my opening something about the Tabernacle.
