Proverbs 4 - Wisdom is a Flashlight

BACKGROUND 

Wisdom is seen here as a woman. We will be abundantly blessed if we give attention, not forsake, prize, embrace, and take hold of her. Then we will be abundantly blessed. The path of our life will be abundantly brightened as we walk straight ahead (4:18).

If we go the way of the wicked, we will just be stumbling in the darkness (4:19). 

REFLECTION 

I am thinking of Mexico again. Every night we would walk to town for dinner while it was usually still light. On the way back to our hotel, we would have to walk on an uneven dirt road in total darkness. Sometimes, we forgot our flashlights, and it was pretty challenging to keep from stumbling. Light just helps.  Wisdom is the flashlight for the path of our life. 

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, 

That shines brighter and brighter until the full day.

(Proverbs 4:18) 

APPLICATION

Make two columns and write down the commands of this chapter on one side and the blessings on the other.

Wisdom is worth pursuing. Are you convinced yet?

PRAYER

Lord, make us to know wisdom in our innermost being. Amen.
